Back to Britain for next round of ELMS
Proton Competition is back in action in the European Le Mans Series from 12 to 14 September with the penultimate round of the season, the 4 Hours of Silverstone. The race marks the team’s return to the UK for the first time since 2019.
Christian and Michael Ried’s squad have fond memories from the trip over the English Channel, including victory in the LMGTE class in the Porsche 911 RSR with Gianluca Giraudi, Ricardo Sanchez and Thomas Preining at the last ELMS race here in 2019. The two events before that also brought home second-place finishes, making Silverstone a proven happy hunting ground for the team.
Once again Proton Competition will be competing for the race win in the LMP2 category, with Jonas Ried, Macéo Capietto and Matteo Cairoli joining forces in the #9 Oreca 07. In the LMP2 Pro-Am category, the #77 Oreca crew of Giorgio Roda, René Binder and Bent Viscaal will be looking to bag as many points as possible as the battle for the title hots up. The trio lie third in the championship, just 13 points behind the leaders.
It’s all change again in the LMGT3 class, with Horst Felbermayr and Horst Felix Felbermayr behind the wheel of the #60 Porsche 911 GT3 R alongside regular driver Matteo Cressoni. The pair are making their first appearances for the team in the 2025 ELMS.
Fans can keep up with all the action from qualifying and the race on the ELMS YouTube channel. The four-hour race is set to go green on Sunday at midday local time (13:00 CEST).
