2014 – 2023: A match made in heaven
The Porsche 911 RSR was the continuation of the now highly successful GTE platform. With it, Proton Competition continued on its upward trajectory as we began recording our first championship titles.
What was special about this car?
The Porsche 911 RSR and Proton Competition – a truly iconic pairing. Introduced in 2013, this 4.0-litre flat-six powerhouse became a mainstay of our racing programme, with no fewer than 226 appearances in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series. Over the years, we celebrated 23 race wins, 36 podium finishes, and 4 championship titles with the RSR – a car that has earned a lasting place in our hearts.

Always an advocate for young talent, Christian Ried gave Klaus Bachler his Porsche 911 RSR debut in 2014 – and the young Austrian promptly finished second at Le Mans with Proton Competition that year.
What did we achieve with this car?
The numbers speak for themselves. With the Porsche 911 RSR, we claimed victories on podiums around the globe – but our greatest success came in the European Le Mans Series. Over eight seasons, we secured an impressive 13 class wins, 21 podium finishes, and no fewer than four championship titles in 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2023.

Proton Competition competed the Porsche 911 RSR in every single FIA WEC race between 2014 and 2023 – often at the head of the GT field, like here at Silverstone in 2016.
What makes Proton Competition such an important part of the FIA WEC?
Few teams have shaped the FIA WEC quite like Proton Competition. As a constant presence in the championship and steadfast Porsche flagbearers throughout the series’ first decade, the team cemented its reputation as a force to be reckoned with on the international GT racing stage.

Actor turned racer Patrick Dempsey spent several successful years with Proton Competition, first as a driver and later as part of the team.
What do Hollywood and Proton Competition have in common?
As Proton Competition’s status grew, so too did interest from high-profile partners. Hollywood stars Patrick Dempsey and Michael Fassbender both forged successful collaborations with the team during the Porsche 911 RSR era. Dempsey’s name became a familiar sight on our cars over several seasons – including as part of our team name, Dempsey-Proton Racing – with the actor himself celebrating race victories and a memorable class podium at Le Mans.
Michael Fassbender also chose Proton Competition as the team to develop his racing career. The Irishman competed in the European Le Mans Series for four seasons and took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice – achievements that marked a successful transition from screen to circuit.
