At the season opener of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in Monaco, Proton Competition secured a points finish and impressed with a strong pace. The team also demonstrated impressive pace at the 12 Hours of Paul Ricard.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proton Competition driver Keagan Masters impressed with fast lap times throughout the race weekend in Monaco. The South African started the race from sixth on the grid. He also finished the roughly half-hour race in that position, as he was unable to overtake his rivals on the tight street circuit. Masters set the fastest lap of the race, thereby underlining his great potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kai Pfister moved up three places and finished the race in 24th position in the Hofkirchen-based team\u2019s second car. The German gentleman driver had a flawless race in Monaco and was able to consistently improve his pace in the guardrail channel. For Rodin Younessi, the race weekend was over after a heavy crash in practice on Thursday, which he survived uninjured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe proved in Monaco that we can keep up with the pace of the frontrunners, which makes us proud. Sixth place is a good result for Keagan, as overtaking is almost impossible in Monaco. He underlined our potential with the fastest lap of the race. We want to build on that this coming weekend in Barcelona,\u201d said Michael Dirsch, who heads the Supercup programme at Proton Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around 200 kilometres away, the team\u2019s GT3 division took part in the 12 Hours of Paul Ricard in the Michelin 24H Series. J\u00f6rg Dreisow, Manuel Lauck, Constantin Dressler and Porsche works driver Joel Sturm finished the race in seventh place overall and fifth in the GT3 Pro-Am class. This earned the team vital championship points. After three of five rounds this season, the Porsche racing team sits third in the GT3 Pro-Am standings. The European leg of the 24H Series continues at the N\u00fcrburgring on the first weekend in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
