Keagan Masters and Proton Competition underlined their championship ambitions in the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland with two race wins at the DEKRA Lausitzring.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closing stages of the first race of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland, in the sweltering heat at the Lausitzring, turned into a real thriller. The two Proton Competition drivers, Keagan Masters and Marcus Amand, battled it out for victory alongside Flynt Schuring. At times, the three Porsches were driving side by side around the Lausitz circuit. Following a time penalty imposed on Schuring, Keagan Masters won the nail-biting race, thereby making Carrera Cup Germany history as the first South African to win a race in the long-standing racing series; his Finnish team-mate was classified in second place \u2013 a huge success for the Bavarian team!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy with my first win of the season, although it came rather suddenly after crossing the finish line, straight after a three-second time penalty for Flynt Schuring. It was like being in a sauna in the cockpit today with the high temperatures. Fortunately, as a South African, I had a slight advantage there,\u201d said Masters happily after the race. Amand added: \u201cOf course, I\u2019m annoyed that I couldn\u2019t secure the win in the end. It certainly wasn\u2019t down to the heat, as I work on my fitness every day to cope with that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dylan Yip was also able to celebrate on the podium after the race, having secured third place in the rookie standings. And the experienced Swede Daniel Ros also finished the half-hour race in 13th place, within the points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keagan Masters had another reason to celebrate in Sunday\u2019s race, as he once again came out on top on the Brandenburg circuit. The fast South African took the lead right from the start and didn\u2019t relinquish it, despite facing intense pressure from his rivals at times. \u201cIt\u2019s incredible to secure two wins in a row and be back in the title race. I\u2019m absolutely delighted. I\u2019ll definitely be taking this momentum with me to the next race weekend at the Norisring,\u201d said a jubilant Masters after the second race in Lausitz. In the title race, after five of eight race weekends, he is now just one point behind the championship leader. Marcus Amand also started the race from a promising position, but had to retire to the pits after a collision in the first corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sweden\u2019s Daniel Ros secured his best result in the German Carrera Cup in the second race of the weekend. Starting from ninth on the grid, the experienced driver quickly worked his way up to fourth place with a strong start, a position he managed to defend until the end of the race. Dylan Yip finished the race in fourth place in the rookie classification, thereby securing further valuable points in the class. Gustav Bergstr\u00f6m, on the other hand, had a weekend to forget at Lausitz, retiring early from both races following collisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
