Three-car attack for return to Imola
Proton Competition returns to action from 4 to 6 July as the European Le Mans Series continues with the 4 Hours of Imola. Once again, the team from Ummendorf will be competing for honours with three cars entered across three different classes.
In the LMP2 class, Jonas Ried, Macéo Capietto and Matteo Cairoli are confident of delivering a strong performance in their #9 Oreca 07. For Italian driver Cairoli, the Imola round offers a valuable opportunity to race in front of a home crowd.
“I’m definitely looking forward to the race in Imola, as the circuit is one of my favourites in Italy,” said Cairoli ahead of the weekend. “We will be aiming to kick-start our season this weekend but the hot weather will make it a tough challenge.”
In the LMP2 Pro/Am category, René Binder, Bent Viscaal and fellow Italian Giorgio Roda will be aiming to build on a solid start to the season and take another step forward.
The sole change to the team’s line-up since the last ELMS round at Le Castellet comes in the LMGT3 class, where Christian Ried will take the wheel of the #60 Porsche 911 GT3 R. Joining him will be Alessio Picariello and the third Italian in the Proton Competition squad, Matteo Cressoni.
As usual, fans can catch all the action from Emilia-Romagna live and free on the ELMS website and official YouTube channel.
